“If you need the sights and sounds of ocean waves crashing, the smells of salt on your skin and in the air, and a near-constant ocean breeze in YOUR life (oh, and Maine is on your list of course) then you need to just stop looking any further and book this! We've tried other rentals on Peak's Island and this one makes them all look like chumps…Sarah & Tom's guests-first process is what made us truly KNOW we found a 1-week second home for ourselves. “We had the most wonderful week at Ocean House. Sarah is so thoughtful and organized. She has truly thought of every single thing someone may need during their stay. The play area was well stocked with all kinds of toys, books and art supplies that my kids used daily…The location was perfect, the view and the sounds of the ocean every day were so relaxing. We loved riding our bikes around the island and finding heart shaped rocks at the beaches…We can’t wait to come back again next summer!” -Lauren

“The Ocean House is amazing, from ever changing, spectacular ocean and sky views to waking up to the sounds of the waves and beautiful sunrises. The quaint island community reminds me of the good ole days, with friendly neighbors , great food, ice cream and lots to do in nature. The golf carts are a favorite of all of us! Sarah and Tom have gone above and beyond to equip the house seriously with everything imaginable and did a fine job creating a warm and peaceful vacation home!” -Teri

“Wonderful location on the east side of the island. Beautiful sunrises with ocean breezes and falling asleep at night to the sound of the surf. We loved renting a golf cart and driving around the island to return to our “hidden” drive that gives the cottage a real sense of privacy and seclusion. Highly recommended.” -Graham
 

 

“This is one of those Airbnb‘s that you don’t want to tell people about because it should be a best kept secret! I have never stayed in such a delightful home in such a beautiful location! My family and I stayed for a week and a half and we even added an extra day because we were so comfortable there. Sarah and Tom really think of everything and are so kind and generous as hosts. Well worth the money! The view is spectacular and peaks Island is such a special place to vacation. We are so grateful to have discovered this exceptional retreat!”

“The cottage is absolutely fabulous. It is more fully equipped than our home.. everything is perfect - the tasteful decor with a nod to Maine, the drawer dedicated to lobster eating, the exquisite location, the helpful communication from Sarah and the views - oh the views! I had a spiritual experience from it all bringing back memories of my childhood. My teenage boys were in heaven biking around the island and exploring in their own. We swam, we kayaked and we enjoyed it all. I am truly grateful for the experience. We will be back! ❤️” -Kristin

“Sarah’s and Tom’s place was spectacular! They live on the best part of the island. We rented a golf cart for the week and discovered all of Peaks Island. The views from the house are really sensational. We loved walking across the street and walking on whaleback each day. We discovered coves and beaches that we could walk or drive the golf cart to with our dog, who enjoyed the vacation just as much as we did. The side porch was a favorite for morning coffee ☕️ The house was clean and had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. We would love to come back and bring our children next time.”
 
“Amazing views, amazing hosts, and all the amenities and extras needed for a great week of vacation. Our four children from ages 12 to 4 spent hours playing with the games and toys as well as reading many classic Maine children’s books. My wife and I enjoyed waking up with the sunrise over the water visible from our room, pour over coffee on the front porch, and dinners on the side deck. Sarah was wonderful to communicate with and really has thought of everything. One of the best stays we’ve ever had.” -Josh

“Ocean House is the best rental I've ever stayed in…when we walked in the door, all stress just melted away. I continue to marvel at the ways Sarah and Tom have anticipated every need and desire of their guests. The space is beautifully designed..There are tons of games and puzzles if you happen to have a rainy day, but, honestly, even the rainy days are beautiful on Peaks Island. The views are fantastic and the house itself really feels like someone's personal beach house more than a rental. We spent the week swimming at Spar Cove, playing tennis at the TEIA courts (join online for a two-week pass), grilling (don't forget to bring charcoal!), eating sandwiches from Hannigan's, lobster rolls from the Island Lobster company, and biking around the island (highly recommend brining your own bikes or getting a week's rental from Brad's Bike Rental near the ferry landing.) We can't wait to get back next summer.” -Kate

 “Renting this house from Sarah and Tom was hands down the best vacation rental experience we've ever had!! Sarah was so helpful and responsive since the minute we inquired about this house on AirBnB. Having never been to Peaks Island before, we had a ton of questions leading up to our trip and she was a wealth of information, which helped us immensely to plan our trip. During our stay, she responded immediately with any questions we ever had. The house itself is lovely- it was clean and well stocked with pretty much anything you could think you may need. Her attention to detail exceeded all of our expectations. It's obvious she put a lot of thought and care into the home, and it truly feels like a home I would live in. The location is also wonderful- along the back shore, away from the ferry and all of the "crowds" (I say that loosely, as it is never really very crowded), but it is an easy bike ride to anywhere on the island. We loved Peaks Island itself, but our experience with Sarah and Tom is what put this experience over the top. I would 100% recommend renting from Sarah and Tom!” -Elizabeth
 
“This was our first stay on the back shore of Peaks Island, normally we stay closer to the ferry, but wow was it amazing! We definitely will be back! The house is in a great location. You can walk down to the water and explore the rocks at low tide, but it's still very quiet and has less foot traffic than the other side of the island. The house is perfect for kids; lots of toys and books to keep them occupied! The back bedrooms are also perfect for little ones. They are incredibly quiet for early bed times and have black out shades to keep it dark. The front yard is a great space for grilling and hanging out. It's also not too far to walk to the ferry; we did it a few times with a stroller. And Sarah is probably the best AirBnB host we've had yet! Super responsive, very thoughtful in sending ferry schedule updates and info that might be helpful. Can't recommend enough! And we can't wait to get back for another vacation!” -Erin
 
“Sarah and Tom were absolutely incredible hosts! From the moment we booked they were proactive with any information we needed to know and incredibly quick in their responses to our questions…Things got even better once we got to the house. The moment we walked in it felt like home. Every space was set up comfortably, but not over the top, it was bright, filled with light and just felt great. One of the best parts was there was a whole area upstairs with kids toys, blocks, games and some arts and crafts so our kids were immediately occupied! The stay was wonderful, the location great (across the street from the ocean and views from upstairs and down!), and stocked house in general…Sarah and Tom are by far the best hosts we have had and we can't wait to go back!” -Hamo
 
“Ocean House is beautiful, and is truly a beach house. I had worried that a vacation during this Covid year wouldn't really feel like vacation, but Sarah and Tom's house made me truly relax in a way I haven't for months. The ocean is both visible and audible from all the main rooms (I love to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean.) The pocket porch is really lovely for sitting and reading, or having breakfast or lunch. The kitchen has everything you might need for cooking, including lobster tools, baking implements, etc. The master bedroom and common spaces are comfortable, stylish and nicely beachy. The vista, on the back shore of Peaks Island, is one of the most beautiful views I've ever seen, both during the day and into the evening and moonlit nights. If you are staying on Peaks, this is where you want to be.” -Kate
 
“What was our experience like? Well, almost immediately upon arrival we started wondering, "Do WE want to get a vacation house on Peak's Island, too?" And if yes, could we have Sarah and Tom come make it as charming as theirs? Really everything was just so perfect: the layout --- living room upstairs and down -- is perfect for families. We could relax and have a glass of wine on the deck while the boys watched shows and played upstairs: BTW: If you DO have kids, they have done a great job creating a great playroom -- books, toys, games. Boys LOVED bath-time with the toy ferry. So cute. I know there are a lot of reviews about the views, but they really were spectacular. And even on the hottest summer days, the ocean breeze made everything so comfortable. And falling asleep listening to the ocean waves? I mean ... it just doesn't get any better. Our days were filled with beaches to explore, ice cream cones (so many ice cream cones) and lots of biking around the island. We highly recommend dumping your car and renting a golf cart for the week. One of our favorite parts of the experience was just tooling around the island, exploring all the cute little streets. Finally, Sarah and Tom were just so easy to communicate with -- truly A+ hosts. We are already planning our next trip back ...” -Jeff
 
“We feel very fortunate to have been able to spend the last week of August in Ocean House. The house is in a wonderful location on the back shore with AMAZING views of the Casco Bay! We've been to Peaks Island several times in the past and one of my kiddos' favorite pastimes is climbing on the rocks along the coast. The house's location across from Whaleback rock was absolutely perfect, and they climbed down and around the rocks every day of vacay! The house itself is immaculately kept and includes every possible thing you could need while on vacation all of which is thoughtfully labeled and easy to find. The layout was perfect for our extended family which included my husband's 80+ year old parents and our 2 young daughters. The grandparents and children took the first floor bedrooms which had easy access to the kitchen, living/dining room area and covered and open porches. Sarah, the host, was always available, responded quickly, and was SUPER helpful with any potential needs. We hope to be able to return to Ocean House for years to come!” -Melissa
 
“Sarah and Tom had everything and anything you might need. I could have left 4 bags behind. The location directly across from Whaleback Ledge and a rocky beach was perfect as we did not need to load the truck with gear and kiddos. Many windows makes the house light and airy. Back deck was huge with ample room for all to navigate without getting in each others way. Front porch had fantastic view of sunrise and sunsets. We had the ABSOLUTE BEST WEEK OF WEATHER THE ENTIRE SUMMER. The kids area was stocked beyond my imagination.....books games, arts and crafts, supplies for all projects and toys. Again I could have left 2 bags behind. Last but not least the huge spacious kitchen with all the tools of the trade. If I were a cook or baker I would of had a field day.....Julia Childs would be envious. We have stayed at 2 other places on Peaks Island and this had the best view and the best stocked home. I particularly liked Sarah's labelling as I too am an organized person. A repeat for us for sure but for two weeks next time.” -Maureen and Dan
 
“Although we arrived on Peaks Island in a crazy rain storm, we had the most incredible vacation ever!! The weather improved by morning and remained perfect for our stay! The home was by far the most well equipped place we have ever rented and I look forward to staying there again. The views are amazing and sunrises were spectacular! Sarah and Tom even made sure we had binoculars as well as a Telescope for day and night viewing in addition to all the amenities they provided for a Perfect vacation! Our proximity to Portland was so very easy and we were able to explore the city as well as dine out frequently. “Ocean House,” is where I’d love to return each summer. “Ocean House was the perfect family vacation house! I had quality time with my adult children sitting across the street on Whaleback watching the tides, walking across the island wildlife watching with my camera, exploring Portland and having a campfire under the stars. The house and views were beautiful. Sarah and Tom have thought of everything - if we didn't have what we needed, they had stocked it. And oh, how I'm going to miss listening to the ocean while laying in bed at night, and seeing the sun rising over the water when I awoke! Thank you Sarah and Tom! “This was really a wonderful location on the shore with a beautiful 10+ view. We really hated to leave here and wanted to stay on another week or so! Good accommodations- the rooms are set up really nice with all the creature comforts of home, nice showers nice baths, nice size rooms. Kitchen is well stocked with everything you need for your stay. Third floor view is breathtaking and we really loved the books that were there and the games. Can’t say enough good things about the place. Hope to come back next year. ❤️” -Mary
 
“We loved our week at Oceanhouse!! The house was perfect for our family of 8, plenty of room and the owners thought of everything for us to have a great trip. From games, puzzles and books to a fully stocked kitchen, wood for a fire, masks, beach towels and toys and a binder full of information on the island… it was just amazing.
